ELMIRA, N.Y. -- An Elmira woman will spend three years on probation for neglecting two properties that she owns. Elizabeth Holloway is the first landlord to be prosecuted since the city began cracking down on serious code violations in July.
Holloway pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges back in November. The city said she had been neglecting her properties at 262 Caldwell Avenue and 514 West Water Street since 2005.
Under the conditions of her probation, Holloway must fix the violations within 30 to 60 days. She was also fined $500, but the judge said he would consider waiving the fine if she makes significant upgrades.
Holloway is due back in court on April 4th.
