Time Warner Cable and YNN are committed to making a difference in our communities this holiday season. The Holiday Hopes and Happenings campaign benefits abused at-risk children across Central New York and the Southern Tier. Our Brad Vivacqua has more on this effort.

CENTRAL NEW YORK -- New, unwrapped gifts are being collected between now and December 12th at a number of Time Warner Cable payment centers and child advocacy sites across the region. If you want to put a smile on a child's face this holiday season, this is one way they can surely do it.

Gifts ranging from board games and puzzles to action figures and books will all help make the holidays easier for child abuse victims. You're encouraged to spend as little as $10 to $20 on a gift or you can easily just donate a gift card.

You can drop off your donations at any Time Warner Cable Payment Center or one of four child advocacy sites across the region. These payment center lobbies in Syracuse, East Syracuse, Utica, Vestal, and Horseheads all have gift collection points.

You can also drop off your gifts at child advocacy site locations in Syracuse, Utica, Elmira, and Binghamton. Donations made in those areas will help kids at the closest child center. Donations in Syracuse will directly help children served at McMahon Ryan.

"Obviously it does make a huge difference in their lives and around holiday time. With the economy the way it is and the way everybody is working very hard, whether it be a little gift, or a big gift, it makes a huge difference in the lives of those children," said Julie Cecile, McMahon Ryan Executive Director.

A gift of any size will certainly help a child who has faced some difficult times. The Holiday Hopes and Happenings Campaign will run until Wednesday, December 12th.
