BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Santa made an early stop in Binghamton on Saturday. He joined some U.S. Marines and Dunkin Donuts employees to hand out coats, hats, gloves and, of course, toys to children in need.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus didn’t take the sleigh this year. Instead, they pulled into Binghamton Yard on the CP Rail Toys for Tots Train. Together the group will travel for two days, making ten stops total including Bainbridge and Oneonta in the Southern Tier before ending up in Rouses Point.

Volunteers hope their stop in Southern Tier will give families still recovering from Tropical Storm Lee a happier holiday season.

"There’s been so much devastation along the entire 88 corridor, anytime, again, we can bring a smile back to their faces and provide some joy for the holidays and give them a toy for the holidays they might not otherwise have received," said Eric Stensland, Dunkin Donuts Field Marketing Manager.

This is the fourth year Dunkin Donuts has been a part of the effort. The company donated $25,000 to the cause. With the help of other sponsors and donations that makes the grand total $110,000 used to buy toys for children. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
