SHERRILL, N.Y. -- There's another local tie to Friday's tragic shooting in Connecticut.
The mother of six-year-old James Mattioli is a Sherrill native. Cynthia Mattioli's parents, Jack and Cathy Radley still reside in the small Central New York town.
Sherrill's mayor says he did not know the family personally, but says his thoughts and prayers go out to them and all the families who lost someone in this tragedy.
"You would never think that something in Connecticut would be connected locally. It's a sad situation what this world’s coming to and we can't even send our kids to school now and have them, you know, safe. It's a sad situation,” Sherrill mayor Bill Vineall said.
Mayor William Vineall says he's tried to get in touch with the family, but has yet to hear back.
