ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Regional Economic Development awards are slated to be announced today in Albany. The awards will be announced by Governor Cuomo as councils from around the state work to develop strategic plans to win state funding.
These plans look to find ways to bring jobs and businesses to New York State.
Western New York, Central New York, the North Country and Long Island each received more than $100 million last year. Other parts of the state received between $49 and $69 million. In all, over $800 million was handed out in the competition.
Governor Cuomo says funding was approved for this year because of last year's success with the councils.
