Syracuse University's Maxwell School is hosting young professionals from around the world for a unique workshop this week. The school is hosting Hubert Humphrey fellowship students in a four day Crisis Training Workshop beginning today. Our Brad Vivacqua is on the Syracuse University Hill with the details on this conference.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- This is all part of a U.S. Department of State funded program and officials say the workshop will help young international leaders that currently work in the public sector.

The Maxwell School is the host because officials say the school is recognized as one of the top in the country for teaching leadership skills.

The 36 individuals in the workshop represent about 30 different countries and will be learning all about leadership in times of crisis.

The four-day workshop will include learning about decision making, preparedness, and communication.

Officials say there is a wide array of challenges that leaders face in crisis situations and the goal is to discuss and evaluate different scenarios.

SU Political Science Asst. Research Professor Bruce Dayton said, "So what we hope is they leave here with a little more understanding of the kinds of challenges that leaders face in crisis situations and some skills that they can use in those moments inevitably when they face crises."

This is part of an annual enhancement workshop that takes place in different locations in the United States.

Students in the workshop have all been selected and are recognized as likely to be future leaders of their countries.

The workshop will begin on campus this morning and will include activities on and off campus in Syracuse. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
