WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- The annual Great Finger Lakes Bicycle Tour was set to finish up Sunday morning, but with all the rain, no one wanted to ride. This was the 30th year for the tour which is put together by the Southern Tier Bicycle Club.
Every year, cyclists from not only the Southern Tie, but all over the country and Canada come to Watkins Glen State Park to ride anywhere from 20 to 110 miles.
This year, 300 people camped out and rode in the tour but by early Sunday morning, most people had cleared out because of the weather.
"In the 80's, we got an early May date and we woke up Sunday morning to six inches of snow. So it's been worse. But I don't think I've ever seen it raining like we've seen this morning. We had a regular monsoon,” said Augie Mueller, Great Finger Lakes Bike Tour Coordinator.
The Finger Lakes Tour is the Southern Tier Bicycle Club's biggest event but they do sponsor other rides almost every weekend.
